160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños 2g9a9962_48907838391_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-13-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273841775_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-612_22742957595_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-122_22756702961_o img_3382_34086345302_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar35_10382626013_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - As Gibraltar woke up for work, John Macintosh Hall closed the count to the general election placing the GSLP/Liberal Alliance as the party to form Government. With an overall mayority 68.03% against the GSD's 31.37, the GSLP/Liberals recorded an overwhelming victory which once again sees Fabian Picardo as the Chief Minister of Gibraltar. The results were: -PICARDO, Fabian Raymond 10852 GARCIA, Joseph John 10661 CORTES, John Emmanuel 10529 LICUDI, Gilbert Horace 10379 ISOLA , Albert Joseph 10313 COSTA, Neil Francis 10048 SACRAMENTO, Samantha Jane 9822 LINARES, Steven Ernest 9690BALBAN, Paul John 9511 BOSSANO, Joseph John 9145FEETHAM, Daniel Anthony 5054 HASSAN NAHON, Marlene Dinah Esther 4892 PHILLIPS, Elliott John 4784 REYES, Edwin Joseph 4766 CLINTON, Roy Mark 4733 HAMMOND, Trevor Nicholas 4578LLAMAS, Lawrence Francis 4565 VASQUEZ, Robert Michael 4535 WHITE, Christopher George 4324 KARNANI-SANTOS, Kim Sylvia 4314 img_5330_34284293662_o 2g9a0559_26817621986_o Gibraltar-Barbary-Macaques 2g9a9769_50032155818_o img_9715_21436852836_o 7u3a0067_50032693926_o 2g9a1990_49049019801_o casemates-square-1_38737099385_o img_9341_43069225210_o 7U3A2455 img_9368_43069202410_o img_2330_25970941727_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-146_38547049881_o img_9014_37650179064_o_37651609184_o img_7173_34776877175_o 2g9a9522_32348233715_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-2_32141120285_o 2g9a5844_31113333995_o_31114930725_o 2g9a5317_30873330951_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354093173_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-18_30790812401_o img_3780_36765414540_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-44 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-107_29494989502_o img_9583_26532996406_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
