A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. monos-en-la-ciudad-19_9225083838_o img_3342_34112850621_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9699775293_o img_9947_43202780524_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-gabrielle-aplin_9702988984_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival44_14484536873_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii37_21190222066_o repatriacin-de-nacionales-britnicos-desde-marruecos-covid-19_49870139223_o 7u3a6487_49454013093_o 2015-Europa-2015-Old-Toys regiment-freedom-of-city-0226_15416895646_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-04_14755675155_o strongmen-201385_10018779694_o cruise-liners-1_39633630751_o frontier-0428_25762635998_o wellington-front0-2439_39634013641_o 2g9a0573_48919597281_o 2g9a4595_48714308182_o img_3844-1_45831048331_o img_4186_31960329328_o img_1710_36193499693_o img_9920_40383754930_o img_9172_38364384271_o_37651613034_o img_1362_36849710882_o img_7172_34614619822_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354065703_o 2g9a6098_30999556571_o_31078854596_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354090753_o 2g9a5366_30845277642_o 2g9a7375_29833285695_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27556200370_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25466664616_o 000-a-dsc_6081_19250262519_o ceremonia-de-las-llaves-gibraltar-25092014-14_15171142540_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
