nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_28048087276_o 2g9a9416_48907569188_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-16-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_41367549690_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23551784431_o airport-0430_24765628787_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-40_9225470116_o img_0562_45389676644_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez27_12102225364_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703084950_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival09_14981923457_o img_8967_20148341271_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii59_20595293653_o 2g9a0396_48801283246_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-21_31710621334_o strongmen-201328_10019227265_o strongmen-201372_10018881524_o 7u3a9664_49900812916_o Trafalgar-5 Monos-en-la-ciudad-31 main-street-0430_24765683727_o P1080694 2g9a4206_48230719037_o img_5109_48919070083_o 2g9a0705_48919598711_o img_2317_29697091487_o img_4744_48714311142_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-33_29495045292_o img_9500_31008242798_o 2g9a7223_29797866616_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354054203_o 2g9a7342_29750649021_o 120793_29462638656_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799754666_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-20_24645629120_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-29_21000568529_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
