A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-175_22557493030_o img_0380_45202127385_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703047066_o img_9897_43921150091_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival21_15165447631_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_32513359576_o img_5290_33601841824_o 7u3a9481_49597827552_o img_0657_21605696321_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-39_23803338108_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_15766684423_o img_9432_42123275541_o img_9506_41403112904_o img_0253_43064742354_o 2g9a1082_48951597808_o 2g9a2063_49048524878_o Monos-62 img_4069_48699660836_o img_5315_48919808782_o img_5413_48919603191_o img_1205_36605129570_o img_1722_36605172860_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-120_38547058011_o img_8961_38333087202_o_38310529476_o img_2074_36880211511_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-66_32141123095_o img_9572_36197415685_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31093430580_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-58_29605116175_o 2g9a5319_30961716145_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-76_30962800865_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-25_30280681093_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-12_30790814361_o 2g9a9291_28860283793_o 2g9a9315_29448003616_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799757576_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25549743524_o 9-feb-2016-simulacro-de-acidente-areo-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24888685826_o img_7870_23580018073_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
