A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0081_43872605462_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii15_21216534915_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii22_21216507555_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_2578_44839791164_o HMS-Forth-10 superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-01_15448392738_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48720880561_o img_0762_20975818733_o 2012-Europa-2012 Royal-Wedding sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-29_19384065329_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-38_37656644311_o img_4121_21276200800_o 2g9a2568_49086447926_o 7u3a5253_49336227218_o 659-boab-wa_48826285888_o 7u3a5292_49336228223_o P1080679 shipping-6_38736467335_o img_5403_48919804612_o 2g9a8412_46634161231_o img_1686_37002120895_o 7U3A2445 img_7239_34614697802_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-170_24674702508_o 2g9a5954_30746414200_o_31114929025_o 2g9a5313_30845032112_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-2_30879586365_o 2g9a9432_29481560885_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27732674482_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27345928491_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-74 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26074990233_o a-dsc_5456_19250453419_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
