140520 - Obras en la frontera de Gibraltar nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_27979619192_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-233_22731785792_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - Fabian Picardo led his GSLP/LiberalAlliance Ministers to the Convent earlier this morning where there were sworn into Government by Acting Governor Alison Macmilan. He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. img_0416_44297004480_o img_6650_35541523305_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-20_9225448120_o img_0715_21409022340_o repatriacin-de-nacionales-britnicos-desde-marruecos-covid-19_49870139488_o img_0738_21597048415_o 2g9a0531_26757814192_o 2g9a8302_48874549713_o Homenaje-a-Manolo-Mascarenhas-en-la-exposicion lincoln-uefa-21072015-41_19913563571_o img_9406_42123280591_o img_4171_21107763295_o 7u3a5844_49426046407_o commonwealth-park-5_27855891239_o commonwealth-park-13_24765485867_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131096758_o 2g9a4842_48717553416_o 2g9a8407_46581735742_o img_9803_31008312038_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-59_31331035523_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 2g9a9197_29852395480_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-78_28979545994_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31427019116_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27141400080_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24286855584_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
