A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_30271353217_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez21_12102528806_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival37_14441432176_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival54_15167944762_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25374459022_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0226-bw_15439621132_o 7u3a9377_49597081693_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-31_19287584903_o 7u3a9387_49597579561_o strongmen-201366_10019076873_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-30_37398191320_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-28 P1080707 1_Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-18 Southport-gates-2 img_9777_43969684835_o img_1885_26967044668_o img_2396_43726224855_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-42_32022600381_o img_0594_36082709670_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-34_33659898213_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354092753_o img_2687_24956720390_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_31991159650_o 2g9a9219_29519585424_o untitled_panorama1_36326038974_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-14_30874520881_o 104145_29388299792_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-34 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-17_24847788481_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-49_20564694524_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
