160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños desayuno-financiero-de-gibraltar-en-londres_44793003284_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 15-de-abril-2016-jardines-de-la-alameda-de-gibraltar-22_26168039170_o paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-10_9222315343_o 2g9a9480_48908303307_o img_0447_32242171468_o img_7564_35734931335_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-24_9222673791_o 2013-Old-Gibraltar-Views-III Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 2017-Christmas-Cupcakes img_2710_45564865711_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_25004392937_o 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-01_24372212306_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-24_19901007182_o superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-07_15448394878_o 7u3a5849_49425350298_o 2g9a2043_49048527433_o 7u3a5286_49336228403_o Monos-5 Alameda-27 P1080605 img_5277_48919071703_o img_3228_40937377451_o img_4682_48713814913_o img_9892_36311270832_o img_9355_31008101638_o 2g9a6175_30970966312_o_31114930855_o img_9730_44830660762_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-6_30578378180_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 2g9a7199_29205877204_o img_0692_25038459857_o 2g9a9291_28860283793_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275184780_o 000-a-dsc_6144_19410634196_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
