conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_38590515980_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-15-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273843225_o colas-coches-gibraltar-febrero-2014-7_12614288325_o img_9887_43872619252_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-22_25062325116_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25466799236_o img_6758_35502347606_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_42896486211_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-06_14755368792_o img_9537_42077119632_o gibraltar-tradewise-chess-festival_001_12193311105_o 7u3a9599_49900813366_o 2g9a9815_50032156708_o 7u3a5074_49336224968_o 2g9a1983_49048521898_o gorhams-cave-5_39633656241_o img_4241_27855794769_o panorama-10_24765449147_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131159882_o 2g9a4206_48230719037_o 2g9a4610_48713812648_o 2g9a8353_32759670518_o img_4046_45831070111_o 7U3A2374 img_1535_44635087371_o img_9061_38333172692_o_26590183949_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-19_30282261864_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331781514_o img_5162_28854863544_o img_9495_25954130954_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-84_21177028552_o flashmob-sunborn-gibraltar-1411201456_15628009498_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
