Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. restauracin-cementerio-witham-17_25384709211_o 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-02_15696482999_o skywalk-gibraltar-16-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_41367549690_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar24_10382641503_o GIbraltar Citizens Advice Bureau office launch "Here to Help" gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-en-chordais-09_9222660131_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - As Gibraltar woke up for work, John Macintosh Hall closed the count to the general election placing the GSLP/Liberal Alliance as the party to form Government. With an overall mayority 68.03% against the GSD's 31.37, the GSLP/Liberals recorded an overwhelming victory which once again sees Fabian Picardo as the Chief Minister of Gibraltar. The results were: -PICARDO, Fabian Raymond 10852 GARCIA, Joseph John 10661 CORTES, John Emmanuel 10529 LICUDI, Gilbert Horace 10379 ISOLA , Albert Joseph 10313 COSTA, Neil Francis 10048 SACRAMENTO, Samantha Jane 9822 LINARES, Steven Ernest 9690BALBAN, Paul John 9511 BOSSANO, Joseph John 9145FEETHAM, Daniel Anthony 5054 HASSAN NAHON, Marlene Dinah Esther 4892 PHILLIPS, Elliott John 4784 REYES, Edwin Joseph 4766 CLINTON, Roy Mark 4733 HAMMOND, Trevor Nicholas 4578LLAMAS, Lawrence Francis 4565 VASQUEZ, Robert Michael 4535 WHITE, Christopher George 4324 KARNANI-SANTOS, Kim Sylvia 4314 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival62_14981650270_o 2g9a4945_48875162252_o img_9777_21442018996_o 2g9a0300_48801426847_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-4_37623780282_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-28_18949701473_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-20_16266642817_o Alameda-9 7u3a0106_50032156128_o main-street-2412_27854807419_o 2g9a4226_48230715707_o 2g9a5392_48726349722_o img_2920_42792489760_o img_2403-2_43916540004_o img_1695_36861635421_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-59_31331035523_o 08-may-2017-6visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895412264_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31427019546_o img_0387_35644174704_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31427019906_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978705836_o 2g9a4701_30279138873_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978709286_o 2g9a4480_30798997992_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-27 Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-23 img_9551_25954052774_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
