A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar04_14989400172_o img_0365_45202129655_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699818209_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25466798246_o 7u3a9312_49597082293_o img_5304_33601839324_o 2g9a0492_26784203071_o 2g9a0273_48801281326_o 2g9a0338_48800935623_o 2g9a2959_49094440501_o 2g9a0894_48806239312_o cervantes-12 bayside-panorama4_48800933518_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-32_19570599375_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16385757192_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-02_9224810194_o 2g9a3957_49336690441_o 46379911712424807714dd4644e836b0 casemates-square-1_38737099385_o Monos-58 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131096543_o 2g9a8440_46634160291_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall img_8655_26036946918_o img_8982_38333002682_o_26590190339_o 2g9a9457_32228023511_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978714986_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-65_29314652230_o 2g9a5116_30961302015_o 2g9a5299_30659937430_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-81_30661166460_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-42_30280669733_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-31_30879399355_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_24124234991_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-47bn_21051017518_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
