Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-02_19468708393_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - As Gibraltar woke up for work, John Macintosh Hall closed the count to the general election placing the GSLP/Liberal Alliance as the party to form Government. With an overall mayority 68.03% against the GSD's 31.37, the GSLP/Liberals recorded an overwhelming victory which once again sees Fabian Picardo as the Chief Minister of Gibraltar. The results were: -PICARDO, Fabian Raymond 10852 GARCIA, Joseph John 10661 CORTES, John Emmanuel 10529 LICUDI, Gilbert Horace 10379 ISOLA , Albert Joseph 10313 COSTA, Neil Francis 10048 SACRAMENTO, Samantha Jane 9822 LINARES, Steven Ernest 9690BALBAN, Paul John 9511 BOSSANO, Joseph John 9145FEETHAM, Daniel Anthony 5054 HASSAN NAHON, Marlene Dinah Esther 4892 PHILLIPS, Elliott John 4784 REYES, Edwin Joseph 4766 CLINTON, Roy Mark 4733 HAMMOND, Trevor Nicholas 4578LLAMAS, Lawrence Francis 4565 VASQUEZ, Robert Michael 4535 WHITE, Christopher George 4324 KARNANI-SANTOS, Kim Sylvia 4314 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24866202773_o 7u3a6459_49454718132_o 2017-Year-of-the-Rooster img_0696_21410178539_o 2g9a8306_48875081921_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_25004279557_o img_9587_42077109932_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-30_37398191320_o img_5830_49085937108_o Monos-4 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131072866_o img_5286_48919601086_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-12_31299673974_o 2g9a9226_29852393150_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-2_47644434832_o 2g9a5856_31077416596_o_31001135681_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354055043_o 2g9a5916_30999441671_o_31001133401_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770650340_o 2g9a5183_30873069221_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_31991159650_o gorhams-panorama1_29720266692_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-12_30874586331_o 126561_29207832900_o img_5194_29370588522_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834011755_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_24866076103_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24288112443_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
