A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_9416_28984558207_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-16_9225485306_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival32_14277952958_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii79_21205989722_o img_6700_35541519325_o img_4634_31174603817_o img_2683_44650695855_o strongmen-201338_10019112414_o 1886-Sellos-Gibraltar-sobreimpreso-Bermuda 2g9a9555_50032626906_o 2015-Winston-Churchill-50th-Anniversary 2g9a9815_50032156708_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-al-puerto-de-gibraltar-al-fondo-algeciras-via-moses-anahory_26293510828_o 7u3a5213_49336225253_o 2g9a4908_48874962841_o 2g9a2063_49048524878_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-19_32513498166_o Alameda-19 img_0148_30891441977_o dementia-day-centre-panorama2_32308837186_o img_1778_36605217100_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-17_31992470462_o img_9361_43069207400_o 14-diciembre-2016-gbc-open-day-maratn-benfico-1_31643380845_o img_9444_29944488657_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-21_28979584404_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-84_38515439742_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-40_29605135895_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29484971871_o img_9019_37650150094_o_37651623794_o simulacro-accidente-aereo-en-gibraltar-03122014-06_15324305393_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-2_37148809895_o_37027014631_o desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-gibraltar16_9858759046_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354048853_o 2g9a2053_27207718836_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
