A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival59_15167932482_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-38_29151485100_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-62_28815990834_o 7u3a9405_49597579341_o 1889-Sello-Gibraltar-Pesetas 2g9a8334_48875082271_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201439_15623709805_o bl1605-1_green_surbico-2_48826661046_o 2g9a0381_48801428202_o p1010490_48826817942_o la-tv-alemana-zdf-graba-un-reportaje-en-gibraltar-michael-petch-zdf_25964216631_o changing-of-the-guard-the-convent-0424_38925614014_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-29 Alameda-4 taxi-4_39604162832_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131097303_o img_4914_48919597971_o 2g9a5941_48204605856_o 08-may-2017-35visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34353145880_o 2g9a4658_48714142921_o img_0548_36311351962_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-17_25566929027_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31318730812_o img_8973_38333052562_o_24494947168_o 2g9a7246_29720276202_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354044403_o 102923_29388300872_o img_2113_36765420450_o a-dsc_0256_19430366702_o img_3705_37163105915_o a-dsc_5939_18815861413_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27732842822_o img_2623_24988155492_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
