A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez18_12102540816_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival12_14277718729_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_8791_20141606395_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-68_28815977444_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_25004410387_o 7u3a9458_49597578781_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-13_19570567125_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_42178231134_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-18_19901022972_o Gibraltar - Preparations for Operation Sea Snake start at Eastern beach with tanks tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente31_12249601656_o Gibraltar - Preparations for Operation Sea Snake start at Eastern beach with tanks 2g9a9850_50032156628_o 2g9a0879_48806100466_o 7u3a5849_49425350298_o 2g9a0961_48805747068_o WP_20140508_032 sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39843315842_o main-street-0431_39604149262_o Alameda-26 P1080699 2g9a4225_48230715982_o img_3204_40895454322_o 1-bob-peliza-mews_23521834898_o img_4060_37023368141_o img_7207_34391530850_o img_0403_36082652700_o 7-feb-2017-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-y-el-alcalde-de-la-lnea-juan-franco_31949828283_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354091363_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31427339086_o img_3731_36349112103_o 113238_28871991264_o img_3781_36991652802_o 2g9a0155_26856598152_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
