Vistas de Gibraltar cementerio-catolico-gibraltar-01_9222238969_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-8-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_41367548130_o 2g9a9337_48908300007_o paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-23_9222392151_o 20150911_132000208_ios_22754355641_o 20150911_133216514_ios_22729474192_o img_3997_15639348704_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23216875912_o img_0018_43016078775_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar24_10382641503_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-en-chordais-15_9225441536_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival12_14463429954_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival12_15145453526_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival61_14981587539_o foot-04_17683449071_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii48_21190199416_o 2016-100th-Anniversary-Battle-of-the-Somme university-8_39603872142_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-29_19720492588_o img_9499_41403114494_o P1080673 img_5293_48919071333_o 2g9a8430_46634160761_o img_3883_30891441127_o img_1413_44585039292_o img_1806_36166462634_o img_7222_34614667512_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-64_32141123685_o img_9594_36197410725_o 2g9a6069_30999753331_o_30747657960_o 2g9a5300_22783043848_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354063863_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27758097151_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354093493_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-14_26935102185_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26405561330_o img_9514_26286176570_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
