4-oct-2017-cm-y-representantes-de-gibraltar-en-cuarta-comisin-de-naciones-unidas-9_37398297800_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-05_15695200380_o colas-de-salida-26-01-15_16191927990_o img_0358_44296999010_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-en-chordais-14_9222663881_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-49_9222697659_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868061171_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25851362566_o img_5319_34402457706_o img_2579_31692338668_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0240-bw_15253257470_o jebel-sahara-4-la-embajadora-del-reino-unido-en-marruecos-con-el-cte-del-real-regimiento-de-gibraltar_22494853804_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente10_12249641936_o 7u3a5305_49336227778_o dav img_5385_48919811767_o img_0221_30891444117_o img_3909-1_45106515714_o 7U3A2460 img_9774_44160761014_o 1-bob-peliza-mews_23521834898_o untitled_panorama4_44550408182_o 08-may-2017-9visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34353153370_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-190_26771239839_o img_0476_36342234491_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026135351_o 7-feb-2017-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-y-el-alcalde-de-la-lnea-juan-franco_31920712944_o 2g9a5387_30660399600_o 2g9a4564_30827339181_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-57_30828717531_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-15_30880620346_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-33_30879566175_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26652395266_o 000-a-dsc_6083_18813941704_o 2g9a9405_27262516613_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
