paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-02_9225042222_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-605_22120218534_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-624_22121796073_o img_3717_34112973041_o img_3748_34112958801_o img_4810_26995115817_o img_9974_43202786994_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival05_14441412846_o img_8936_19954784100_o img_8990_19521761183_o la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_24460200566_o img_5152_34402436316_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-34_24995328821_o img_0635_20975772363_o proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_27712734998_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-19_14150893532_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-10_23803345318_o 7u3a5132_49336224073_o 7u3a5855_49426046137_o commonwealth-park-18_27855803939_o rooke-1_25761941028_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-152_24674709848_o img_7262_34614722442_o img_2395_43726227305_o 2g9a6156_30306793313_o_31114931205_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32217922492_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28941930763_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_26808901774_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_24124234991_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
