A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0497_32242282898_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-texas_9703037170_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival21_14464408155_o img_5255_33634011703_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-32_24457971934_o 1953-Serie-completa 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24862359824_o img_9944_21441875066_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-28_37623774112_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16200775047_o entrenamiento-conjunto-balona-san-joseph-en-la-linea-02122013-3_11213199744_o strongmen-201324_10019208004_o strongmen-201373_10019008173_o 7u3a9570_49901122087_o 2g9a3995_49336228918_o 2g9a2576_49085939373_o bedenham-memorial-2_39603617752_o alameda-gardens-10_38737336275_o P1080725 img_1665_43726046355_o 2g9a9248_29519581084_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-159_38547043961_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318393422_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354077343_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-36_30927351356_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354089333_o 2g9a7322_29750651971_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799753256_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26074984063_o img_9601_26532962996_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23578621414_o flashmob-sunborn-gibraltar-1411201458_15628562730_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
