He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-music-festival-2013-la-oreja-de-van-gogh_9699931225_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25400097061_o la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_24190850550_o img_6769_35502345856_o 2014-Endemic-2014-Flowers 2g9a8311_48875283537_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201438_15623711075_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-36_18948045914_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_25004218717_o strongmen-201344_10019075934_o img_9424_42123276931_o Monos-46 img_9857_25762443438_o evacuation-monument-0487_27856103119_o P1080676 P1080718 2g9a6827_48204069506_o img_9572_30732454928_o img_1751_43726058205_o img_3060_26064767037_o img_7288_33935380434_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-29_32129382315_o img_9912_36311395162_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770640690_o 2g9a5873_31113484035_o_31001126961_o 2g9a5947_30306893113_o_31114929135_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-7_30800468372_o img_5032_28856483734_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834027665_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
