turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-575_22121520384_o paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-01_9225043380_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23216935692_o img_3719_34112970991_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar19_10382443634_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez33_12102483146_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez01_12102595906_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival06_14441411796_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-31_9225458430_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival23_14981866377_o sombra-de-una-palmera_17682911541_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25576702420_o img_5246_34443953115_o img_6644_35154400270_o img_2656_44650719865_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0226-bw_15439621132_o img_2662_44650718575_o 2g9a0276_48801427182_o superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-06_15634521395_o 2g9a0287_48801281171_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-25_37623775212_o img_4237_20486583723_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165178154_o 7u3a5136_49336690296_o img_5800_49085938123_o cruise-liners-7_25762306798_o img_4241_27855794769_o img_4689_25762494808_o 2g9a6816_48204116957_o img_5131_48919069658_o img_5376_48919812207_o img_1192_36830777852_o img_9474_44160738204_o 2g9a9537_28856822484_o 08-may-2017-20visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895397254_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-26bn_20616236464_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354065973_o 2g9a9780_27596464760_o untitled_panorama2_36764784300_o 2g9a0336_26882454751_o joseph-garca-viceministro-principal-de-gibraltar-el-9-feb-2016-durante-un-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24888685396_o 2015_09_14__0222_21235834578_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
