A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_38590499430_o 15-de-abril-2016-jardines-de-la-alameda-de-gibraltar-12_25838070013_o 2g9a9951_48908043047_o img_3315_33432747563_o img_4814_41146189534_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-lawson_9699900669_o img_0544_44297153600_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez17_12102160233_o miembros-del-jurado_14029877671_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival31_14277902009_o img_8765_19519007264_o Gibraltar - Operation Sea Snake sees tanks and Royal Marines land on Eastern Beach 2g9a0331_48801427832_o gibraltar-tradewise-chess-festival_003_12193958386_o 180731 - Visita a la nueva central eléctrica y planta de GNL img_9671_40316193850_o a76228de95cfe1d2c67ab1b73bca78b1 2g9a6816_48204116957_o 2g9a5333_48725846428_o img_4931_48919598081_o img_9407_44160683964_o img_1635_43726052185_o img_9786_44830686982_o img_0727_28129694989_o 2g9a9426_32308843676_o 2g9a6109_30999545231_o_30747657730_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-45_25326933339_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354091903_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-26_30874576911_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354096803_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-40_22784320518_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876085101_o 2g9a9292_28860280523_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
