A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-9-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273842135_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar05_14966768396_o colas-frontera-diciembre01_12349103504_o img_4863_41820468852_o img_0021_43016077295_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699839129_o img_0539_44297152980_o img_5290_33601841824_o hospital-de-campaa_49726813906_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-13_19570567125_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201417_15437752767_o img_9646_21463206585_o cruise-liners-15_38737422295_o gorhams-cave-3_39633657121_o evacuation-monument-0481_24765699027_o 2g9a4259_48230656026_o 2g9a4511_48714141591_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131158422_o img_5135_48919599496_o img_0220_45106514454_o img_4707_48713811328_o dementia-day-centre-panorama1_32228021781_o img_1817_36605211090_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32217922962_o img_0794_39737052685_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-128_29524265061_o actividades-paralelas-al-open-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_32570313641_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31349010271_o 2g9a5319_30961716145_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-13_30280719723_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-67 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
