181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. inmaculada-fotos-23112014-09_16092708482_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23242706421_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9699786729_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival03_14461016311_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-18_19563794762_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25576708260_o 31-de-mayo-ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho04_14316110555_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-7_29360183871_o 2g9a9533_50032088603_o img_2579_31692338668_o 7u3a9611_49900813316_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-25_40133915122_o 2g9a9888_50032693156_o 2g9a0217_48801426492_o ragged-staff-4_38736911545_o 2g9a2112_48706248676_o img_0279-1_45106517334_o 2g9a4631_48714309102_o dscf7873_43693501095_o img_9474_44160738204_o img_0741_26036930368_o img_9828_31008297668_o img_0778_39737054575_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-79_26771253999_o 2g9a5306_22783048628_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-111_38515438132_o 2g9a7435_29797984576_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-183_24674698568_o img_5257_29190529890_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27221951154_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331786984_o img_3313_27262543263_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978705666_o img_9241_25957183553_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876089271_o img_2695_25252187645_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
