nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_28004546131_o paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-18_9222319573_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 1_discurso-del-ministro-principal-en-la-cuarta-comisin-de-la-asamblea-general-de-la-organizacin-de-naciones-unidas_30035744201_o javier-santivez-per_14033458704_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703083320_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival09_14464514925_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival19_14463275594_o 2012-RAF-Squadrons-Issue-1 7u3a9444_49597828257_o Monos-50 superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-08_15448935710_o alameda-gardens-5_39603360592_o 2g9a0861_48805745613_o 2g9a4241_48230643706_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-8 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-73_31765980940_o img_8175_44603354841_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31093429780_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_30623211394_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-6_38627529030_o 2g9a4504_30280745244_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331781514_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-32_30880582466_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36996834552_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-11_30578376280_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-42_28979568994_o 2g9a7355_29540549990_o 126561_29207832900_o 129097_28874477453_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27221949664_o 2g9a9404_27262516983_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
