A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0082_43872604072_o img_9319_43016052065_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-20_9222712203_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9699786729_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival26_14277906919_o img_9849_21441982666_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-8_24458001554_o 2g9a8334_48875082271_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25756486902_o cervantes-10 2g9a0901_48806236947_o 2g9a8783_48826624131_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39876333231_o commonwealth-park-8_27855892709_o img_9723_21276164699_o 2g9a5383_48725846068_o 2g9a2044_49049027136_o 2g9a8339_32759671438_o img_4727_48714140836_o img_1174_37002155585_o 7U3A2450 img_9206_38309518716_o_24494935528_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026149781_o 2g9a5947_30306893113_o_31114929135_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168271395_o 2g9a9666_29372757102_o img_5156_28855007944_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27556018410_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
