A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_38590500850_o 20150911_143351988_ios_22555602660_o gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_31336303638_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez05_12102582406_o img_0419_46063492272_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699858495_o 14009938016_90a12f94bc_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival34_14277950318_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival34_15165408491_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii11_21224475791_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25576706810_o hospital-de-campaa_49726813971_o img_2692_44650711475_o img_4703_44297315080_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-13_19287550973_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-03_9222032679_o img_9745_21452061342_o heritage124_24764838537_o 2g9a2019_49049241427_o 2g9a1813_48699321653_o 2g9a0582_48919597186_o dscf7934_30732456038_o img_4689_48713815623_o 7U3A2442 img_1143_36166372264_o img_2394_44635569021_o el-ministro-principal-de-gibraltar-fabin-picardo_37651611504_o img_1159_36861637871_o img_3549_34196604076_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-42_31677584875_o 2g9a5224_22782890628_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-101_30962790565_o 2g9a4631_30827328181_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
