Vistas de Gibraltar restauracin-cementerio-witham-29_25477575695_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar_22714387826_o 2g9a9925_48908039977_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar12_14800934979_o img_3712_34112974141_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-35_9225464106_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival14_14277902827_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival37_15145365246_o img_9066_20142633405_o 2018-Christmas img_0515_22903735692_o img_0753_21597029625_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho12_14125125990_o 2g9a0860_48805744093_o 2g9a9693_50032952867_o 7u3a0057_50032952527_o 2g9a8862_48826781552_o 7u3a0102_50032156358_o Monos-35 img_2649_27855865679_o img_9562_24765470447_o Alameda-22 2g9a0566_48919805577_o img_4899_48919805767_o img_2412-2_30765499848_o img_9613_43969715785_o img_7269_34736879406_o img_9777_43969684835_o 2g9a9349_32308849256_o img_0594_36082709670_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354082203_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_31991159650_o 2g9a4611_30827330211_o img_3855_36326631584_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-33 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
