A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. monos-zona-alta-del-pen-con-turistas-08_9225077022_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-115_22756710991_o el-telefrico-o-cablecar-es-la-forma-ms-cmoda-de-alcanzar-la-parte-alta-del-pen_22739218095_o colas-frontera-diciembre07_12348798093_o In less than five minutes a free flowing pedestrain zone saw queues increased by effecting a total stop of all persons crossing for nearly 15 minutes. This led to queues forming on the Gibraltar side extending into the airport forecourt within minutes. cola-peatonal-salida-de-gibraltar-23072015-01_19775841098_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival48_14981685130_o img_8812_20147134501_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25400097571_o 7u3a9323_49597579991_o img_5152_34402436316_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0216-bw_15253258020_o img_0535_22525014739_o img_0821_21409366548_o sir-david-steel_50032130168_o 62032-0-11 7u3a9693_49900297453_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-26_37398191710_o 7u3a5079_49336224918_o img_0247_43781196821_o 7u3a5197_49336692391_o shipping-3_38736511525_o 2g9a4217_48230646586_o img_4060_48699321463_o img_1490_43725754835_o img_3091_40043446265_o img_8784_39910034801_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-98_38515439002_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-17_31992470462_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-38_31299665694_o img_0515_36082683250_o 2g9a5299_30659937430_o img_2348_37020625501_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-1_30880607876_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-12_30874586331_o 2g9a7421_29207203173_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799754666_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-92 lanzamiento-de-la-campaa-gibraltar-stronger-in-europe_26321358031_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. The Gibraltar Music Festival Gibraltar - 9th May 2015 - Mo Anton took the first prize at the V Gibraltar Song Festival held at the Tercentennary Sports Hall in Gibraltar.Fourteen singers competed in the final from across the world following over 700 entries.
