160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_28004539131_o el-convento-residencia-del-gobernador-de-gibraltar_22740235065_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-8-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_41367548130_o vistas-desde-el-castillo-moro-de-gibraltar_22552429930_o 20150911_152238465_ios_22718017546_o gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_44298895405_o img_0018_43016078775_o img_9332_28984556927_o img_9937_43872622512_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-8_24458001554_o 2g9a4937_48875162547_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16385784332_o 2g9a0420_48801283016_o 2g9a9850_50032156628_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-18_37623776672_o Monos-45 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-2_37398194570_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-9 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-12_16265134410_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-7 1_Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-16 2g9a2064_48705917398_o dav img_3960_45831064451_o img_9289_44830587042_o dscf7889_30729838038_o img_9570_31008278578_o img_3163_40937386411_o mf1_44830656812_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-8_29314688490_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-96_29524283771_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-121_29494980942_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-26_30874576911_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26073157754_o a-dsc_5226_19249082378_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
