A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 20150909_091708122_ios_22756772391_o img_0376_44297009470_o img_0558_44297154880_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar26_10382433154_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-30_19908523575_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-15_13967063627_o img_4115_21097751282_o 2g9a9878_50032156553_o 2g9a0580_48919065958_o mde img_4007-1_44014411210_o img_4101_45831073121_o img_1665_43726046355_o dementia-day-centre-panorama3_32228020981_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-26_32090611536_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-30_32090609846_o img_0497_35671092643_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-34_29605141075_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31093097850_o img_2360_36349031843_o 2g9a5329_25325834499_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-107_29494989502_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-11_25326960339_o 2g9a7403_29833252185_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29455741852_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565262935_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565264255_o img_5073-copy_29401041431_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26062053432_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-51bn_21052089859_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
