A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_28048144886_o img_8550_19463754733_o default img_0387_45202126515_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar21_10382440774_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-la-oreja-de-van-gogh_9703169276_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez21_12102528806_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703080304_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival42_14464532725_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival56_14981747048_o concierto-de-albert-hammond-7-noviembre-201408_15553472500_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25400097571_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-27_25088654835_o img_6790_34732193043_o HMS-Forth-1 2g9a0541_26246266054_o strongmen-201346_10019123736_o Monos-40 img_4574_48714144356_o img_0776_25762436127_o img_9558_43969743275_o img_0782_39877392102_o stormzy-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-14_43072435540_o 2g9a9337_32228019781_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-80_29524293581_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354091363_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-86_29570775406_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026165101_o 2g9a5910_30306641013_o_31001126491_o 2g9a5172_30961449105_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-29_30243926413_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29665528520_o 2g9a9476_29192803340_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26062049792_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23578622564_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
