A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-2-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_41367549160_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23525581062_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar03_14800922989_o img_8806_20133531022_o img_9897_43921150091_o img_9066_20142633405_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-29_29360135941_o 2016-Pillar-Boxes 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-30_29360134551_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0118-bw_15253196319_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_42178229464_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0212_15253265190_o img_9761_21280207840_o 2g9a0204_48801426657_o 7u3a5077_49336691636_o 2g9a1982_49049234967_o Monos-3 gib-view-2_38925522374_o Monos-27 Monos-en-la-ciudad-8 img_9636_38737419785_o Alameda-11 commonwealth-park-17_24765491067_o img_5158_48919069453_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114554797_o img_3908_45781930772_o 2g9a5333_48725846428_o img_4125_31960326528_o img_9283_44160657644_o img_5398_42275726052_o reunin-del-ministro-principal-con-susana-daz-en-sevilla_38993310015_o 24-04-2017-desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-de-los-royal-engineers-1_34113618881_o img_2375_37020595991_o 2g9a7237_29797863526_o img_5294_29190456540_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-31 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
