A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 20150911_132000208_ios_22754355641_o la-nube-de-levante-se-desliza-por-la-pista-del-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_22118435473_o 1_discurso-del-ministro-principal-en-la-cuarta-comisin-de-la-asamblea-general-de-la-organizacin-de-naciones-unidas_30119940605_o img_3433_34086340972_o img_0429_45202145845_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26902337206_o concierto-de-albert-hammond-7-noviembre-201404_15714587176_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-37_29151486800_o Gibraltar - Albert Hammonds in Concert 2019-Moon-Landings-50th-Anniversary img_2735_44839804554_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-16_14150403041_o 2g9a0401_48801283111_o 2g9a2576_49085939373_o Monos-36 Monos-57 2g9a4288_48230652136_o img_9570_31008278578_o 7U3A2354 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-96_26771252499_o 08-may-2017-7visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34737775245_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-43_31531497842_o 14-diciembre-2016-gbc-open-day-maratn-benfico-1_31643380845_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-10_29314686200_o 2g9a5998_31113352205_o_31001131341_o 2g9a4579_30879141366_o img_2243_36973603926_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959236635_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959238505_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275180030_o img_5047_29372476972_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-76 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
