A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0306_45389525324_o img_0082_43872604072_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii84_21205979132_o img_5317_34059171360_o 1886-Sellos-Gibraltar-sobreimpreso-Bermuda ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho06_14312769701_o la-tv-alemana-zdf-graba-un-reportaje-en-gibraltar-michael-petch-zdf_25938054662_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente28_12249606836_o entrenamiento-conjunto-balona-san-joseph-en-la-linea-02122013-marcos-moreno-27_11213227504_o img_9642_21276324019_o 7u3a5088_49336910832_o 7u3a5847_49425350483_o b7b84d47503c5f32ac3a435f71a4a6ac heritage177_39603315472_o 2g9a8353_32759670518_o img_3237_40937375511_o img_3546_37604620116_o img_0741_38822718450_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-4_25566929487_o untitled_panoma1_36623850090_o img_3547_36982596533_o img_0745_36479651875_o img_8777_39877385382_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-71_29314645680_o img_2074_37020700201_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-39_30843307086_o img_5060-copy_28856391524_o img_5308_29479032585_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26405503920_o img_9635_26286040440_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-78_21161106896_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
