conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_40356613732_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-565_22123268403_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9878_48908036467_o 2g9a9882_48907304088_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23634086985_o 14-agosto-2014-colas-de-accceso-a-gibraltar10_14731977897_o GIbraltar Citizens Advice Bureau office launch "Here to Help" colas-de-salida-26-01-15_15756889984_o img_0011_43872600972_o img_0386_44297008470_o img_9319_43016052065_o festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar-25102014-29_15628311421_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 2g9a0251_48801280246_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 31-de-mayo-ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho16_14129477520_o 2g9a0975_48805746853_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente25_12249483594_o 2g9a1077_48952340307_o img_1141_36605092940_o 2g9a4499_48714307747_o img_1466_44585017572_o img_4708_48714310862_o img_0682_26036922448_o img_1727_36605156140_o 08-may-2017-11visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34353152820_o img_8023_42792486790_o 2g9a5737_32763866525_o img_9536_44600532311_o 2g9a5313_30845032112_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354045423_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27758327081_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834019805_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-7 visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26154508595_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-25_24645626450_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-75_20999227420_o a-dsc_5971_19248906138_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
