turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-732_22754968231_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_45210241811_o img_3752_34086393212_o img_0453_46063482552_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival49_14277933468_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-21_9225446852_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival48_14981685130_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-18_17364118671_o 2017-Military-Heritage 2016-Historic-Streets-of-Gibraltar sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-2_19544442156_o visita-platini-gibralar-rock-cup-2014-36_14153766715_o strongmen-201366_10019076873_o img_4091_21081660906_o 7u3a5727_49425815011_o img_9905_25762443858_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-16 img_3943_45831065251_o img_5299_42275715542_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-82_38490782596_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-72_31765982710_o img_3541_36982597513_o img_9455_36030360782_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-12_38627528590_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-45_28979567144_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978708616_o 2g9a6049_31113406825_o_31001129811_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-31_30879399355_o img_5049_28856437654_o img_5072-copy_29480900075_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-39 4-abr-2016-inauguracin-nueva-sede-banco-internacional-de-gibraltar-10_26234663915_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-53bn_21050829270_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
