nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_28082215715_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Line Wall Road Polling station where tensions were high at one point this morning) - Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. restauracin-cementerio-witham-24_25384706431_o untitled_panorama1_19462134994_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-346_22745126835_o colas-de-salida-26-01-15_15756867054_o img_0446_45202135615_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-09_17364148411_o img_8880_19953420380_o img_9011_19954709400_o 2015-RAF-Squadrons-IV-2 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-26_29360141371_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0240-bw_15253257470_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48720880711_o festival-literario-gibraltar20_10497041003_o 2g9a4930_48874428293_o img_4298_20484976974_o Los-gibraltarenos-marcharon-hasta-la-frontera-la-noche-del-cierre.-Portaban-la-Union-Jack-y-entonaban-el-himno-britanico.-Fotografia-de-la-exposicion-‘Closure. 2g9a1102_48952339342_o 2g9a2577_49086663222_o st-michaels-cave-8_38925215754_o img_9466_44160742804_o dscf7781_44550419062_o img_0309-1_45106513714_o img_7278_34645022791_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-137_37830963504_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354073593_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-5_37148809235_o_36997616212_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770634030_o 2g9a6119_30746368720_o_31001138851_o 2g9a5188_22782815758_o 2g9a5341_30873439931_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-23_30962841425_o 2g9a7189_29207197243_o 2g9a9488_29447193276_o 113436_28871990154_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26154508855_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-20_21187323645_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
