A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23266239309_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23634142045_o 14-agosto-2014-colas-de-accceso-a-gibraltar03_14731997187_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar21_14803177867_o img_4827_40964775715_o img_0046_43921147401_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-70_28815972134_o university-panorama-3_21280170528_o img_0821_21409366548_o ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho20_14129425788_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-20_37623776142_o 7u3a5857_49426045967_o img_9405_42123217571_o ragged-staff-4_38736911545_o img_0139_43064732994_o 2g9a5903_48204606631_o 2g9a8393_46634162131_o img_4072_45831074981_o img_8060_30732455188_o 20171214_111115_38346075574_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-169_24674693448_o img_5299_42275715542_o img_8862_38364735331_o 08-may-2017-28visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34606283441_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-17_34309882282_o 2g9a7392_29720314292_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29455747202_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978712646_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-59 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026138831_o img_2906_24884005299_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
