A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-01_9225043380_o monos-zona-alta-del-pen-con-turistas-01_9225070430_o monos-en-la-ciudad-07_9222309277_o airport-0425_38925602124_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-07_19467053534_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar19_10382443634_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699812129_o img_9966_21457063922_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-13_9222709723_o ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho13_14336288843_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-21_28818274013_o ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho15_14129432288_o 7u3a9427_49597828562_o img_0111_29910409648_o 7u3a9567_49901122127_o 7u3a5167_49336912537_o WP_20140508_005 img_5373_48919072188_o img_9455_36030360782_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-75_26771239499_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32217923562_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-119_38515437272_o 2g9a5391_22783422328_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 2g9a4556_30879147656_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354077343_o 2g9a7330_29750651211_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275180030_o img_5186_28857155613_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27732674942_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26652408166_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-11_23388774212_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-21_20566182133_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
