A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. pasajeros-en-el-interior-de-un-vehculo-en-la-cola-de-acceso-a-gibraltar_9460842480_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival37_15145365246_o img_9959_42111995300_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-48_28818200523_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-28_29360137171_o img_0523_22296010243_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0072_15438762275_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-35_19382644010_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-38_37656644311_o img_4280_20486536373_o img_9750_21274985270_o commonwealth-park-1_39633565481_o P1080699 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-21 2g9a4280_48230653436_o img_5114_48919807702_o 2g9a4628_48714309187_o img_4144_45831071571_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-16_47644435012_o img_3228_40937377451_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-76_38490783146_o 08-may-2017-32visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34606278401_o img_8691_26036949498_o img_3549_34196604076_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-40_31531498352_o img_0726_36479651235_o 17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32368144955_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354089333_o 2g9a5059_30659479880_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770651510_o 2g9a4611_30827330211_o img_2287_36326616904_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-32_30880582466_o img_2354_36349032493_o 2g9a7246_29720276202_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27758112561_o 85-aniversario-museo-gibraltar-23072015-17_19775579090_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
