Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9406_48907561603_o 20150911_151621749_ios_22556050620_o img_4855_41863359481_o img_0090_43202785794_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar04_10382458176_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-14_17176680148_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii15_21216534915_o img_6650_35541523305_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25576702820_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-16_19882330006_o img_6592_34732164413_o 2g9a1129_48951599123_o Gibraltar - Operation Sea Snake sees tanks and Royal Marines land on Eastern Beach cruise-liners-9_25762305848_o Mezquita-19 img_2705_39633723751_o img_4016_45106525244_o img_2774_38737246865_o img_1192_36830777852_o img_4506_48714143681_o img_1912_26967037278_o img_1772_36605218160_o img_9465_36197424905_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_42209194051_o 2g9a6171_30746402250_o_31001136451_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354087943_o 2g9a5370_22783253988_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354098553_o 2g9a4556_30879147656_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978715306_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275185400_o img_2238_36326659764_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-81_21000527899_o img_2343_37163010205_o simulacro-accidente-aereo-en-gibraltar-03122014-04_15757900269_o desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-gibraltar04_9858759375_o img_2213_27668725906_o img_2904_25158506311_o img_8908_24398142691_o Gibraltar -28th September 2015 - The Governor of Gibraltar today departed From office bidding Farewell to politicians and the armed Forces in what ended up to be a low Key ceremony.
