nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_27467437473_o paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-12_9225090010_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. default img_3376_34112845901_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival17_14463208112_o img_7548_35347381260_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25248540973_o strongman-en-casemates_9997656265_o img_2705_45564866351_o gibraltar-eslovaquia18_10967598334_o jebel-sahara-4-la-embajadora-del-reino-unido-en-marruecos-con-el-cte-del-real-regimiento-de-gibraltar_22494853804_o 2g9a6750-copy_48204160647_o 2g9a0368_48801282306_o img_1707_36861710091_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-4_16451620052_o img_1490_43725754835_o img_2705_39633723751_o img_2412_26972644978_o img_4564_48714310207_o img_0755_26036934728_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-13_47644436502_o 2-bob-peliza-mews_23521833618_o img_9342_43069220710_o img_3561_34196602626_o img_9421_29944502797_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-16_31980777362_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354072313_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-33_29495045292_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31318730812_o 2g9a5299_30659937430_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-19_30846363672_o 2g9a9584_28859278833_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565259745_o img_5130_29399681391_o img_5188_29190612870_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
