Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-578_22556346360_o el-telefrico-o-cablecar-es-la-forma-ms-cmoda-de-subir-a-la-parte-alta-del-pen-de-gibraltar_22713622466_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar27_14803167427_o 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-06_15262858513_o img_8744_19519184754_o 14009938016_90a12f94bc_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-68_28815977444_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_2635_45564819441_o MM180007 2g9a0294_48801279376_o 2g9a0420_48801283016_o 7u3a9687_49900812671_o Monos-28 Monos-en-la-ciudad-26 Southport-gates-2 2g9a6810_48204117117_o img_5311_48919604331_o stormzy-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-21_44833877632_o img_1515_44635096401_o img_3343_39127765010_o img_0721_28129694239_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-6_32102452856_o 2g9a4483_30279112433_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-70 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354089333_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-10_20999200180_o img_2227_36991626022_o a-dsc_5736_18815928263_o img_2308_36765362270_o 2g9a9671_27839953626_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-108_29314616730_o img_2693_24621549314_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
