A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 1_discurso-del-ministro-principal-en-la-cuarta-comisin-de-la-asamblea-general-de-la-organizacin-de-naciones-unidas_29824810140_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar12_14800934979_o img_0358_44296999010_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii92_21224278111_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-24_9222673791_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-67_29439803515_o hospital-de-campaa_49727126392_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente34_12249206373_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_41086233610_o american-war-memorial-7752_27855785309_o 2g9a0971_48805746883_o commonwealth-park-10_38925456644_o 2g9a0582_48919597186_o 2g9a0612_48919596601_o 2g9a5952_48204653807_o img_5439_41600440524_o img_4739_48714310672_o img_9969_42190714451_o img_1752_36861684841_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-16_29605155335_o reunin-del-ministro-principal-con-susana-daz-en-sevilla_39182270424_o 2g9a5243_30925820726_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354094083_o 2g9a5261_25325595389_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-32_33659898463_o 2g9a5372_30961925375_o img_3849_36349062283_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-46_30927343396_o 2g9a7260_29720269882_o 2g9a7492_29750656781_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28939791934_o 126120_28874486783_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27221932184_o img_5001_28859132593_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26128568886_o fabin-picardo-en-la-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23838993809_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-34_21187392345_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
