Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. southport-gates-y-las-murallas-de-carlos-v_22552279570_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-162_22122656174_o img_9339_43202804384_o img_0440_45202139095_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-texas_9703037170_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival17_14464412515_o foot-03_17680853852_o img_8861_19520491373_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii59_20595293653_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-63_29439806445_o 2g9a2989_49093919253_o img_5179_34284278782_o 2g9a8855_48826626981_o 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-06_24398436285_o changing-of-the-guard-the-convent-0426_25762614198_o cruise-liners-1_39633630751_o P1080599 panorama-18_24765528797_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131153217_o 7U3A2462 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-2_47644434832_o img_1472_44635118681_o img_9437_29944492417_o img_2393_29697126987_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354045713_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-115_29494984942_o img_5291_42275711632_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31093097850_o img_2348_37020625501_o 2g9a6117_30999771781_o_31001139001_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-109_28981258643_o 2g9a7460_29540582320_o 101823_29462611076_o img_4983_29192599100_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-79 concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-56bn_20616247324_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho11_14309883432_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. Gibraltar -28th September 2015 - The Governor of Gibraltar today departed From office bidding Farewell to politicians and the armed Forces in what ended up to be a low Key ceremony.
