A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-01_19467065984_o img_3771_34086389242_o img_3800_34086384292_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-gabrielle-aplin_9702988984_o img_9959_42111995300_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival20_14277954117_o img_0524_44297151320_o img_6686_35154398350_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off 2g9a2980_49094629367_o la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_24460201446_o ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho06_14312769701_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742373783_o img_9506_41403112904_o img_9593_42077108322_o 7u3a9587_49900813411_o img_1922_27856026519_o img_1031_36599991866_o img_8011_42792487080_o img_9035_38309180926_o_38310544166_o img_7187_34391520690_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-9_30661244850_o 2g9a9537_28856822484_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354078073_o 105550_29388298542_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770640490_o 000-a-dsc_6141_19250538419_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
