A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. bishop-canilla-panorama1_48908088586_o 20150911_132729617_ios_22122027303_o img_3403_33432756613_o img_9361_43921121661_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival34_14277950318_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-30_9225459452_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival39_14277745239_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-11_17338528596_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-41_29151478040_o 2018-HMS-Queen-Elizabeth festival-literario-gibraltar20_10497041003_o 2g9a0454_48801428857_o 7u3a9668_49901121347_o la-tv-alemana-zdf-graba-un-reportaje-en-gibraltar-michael-petch-zdf_25938054662_o 2g9a1078_48952141496_o 2g9a3955_49336690961_o 2g9a2617_49085934638_o 7u3a5130_49336690681_o frontier-0429_24765656277_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-33 img_1499_29696600117_o img_4617_48714310607_o img_3240_40043115515_o img_9319_31008114888_o img_5377_41421453175_o img_3013_44603357601_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-29_31677588875_o img_0619_36479632685_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-86_29570775406_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_30656122673_o 2g9a6122_31077411616_o_31078854346_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-36_25326940409_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28941944073_o img_5109_29479613055_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-21 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
