A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. colas-de-salida-26-01-15_16193088359_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival09_14464514925_o img_8820_20133507122_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25400097571_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25466799046_o 7u3a5286_49336228403_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-6_29331870192_o 7u3a5326_49336695366_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201416_15437116099_o Monos-29 superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-10_15448934790_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-19 7u3a0086_50032953247_o img_0142_36311384942_o 2g9a5952_48204653807_o 2g9a5889_30746101090_o_31001134811_o img_1827_37002176495_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799753256_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354051073_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-5_24573487469_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354066223_o tom-lackey-acrobata-aereo-de-94-anos-en-gibraltar-10102014-13_15516254545_o img_2088_36973652726_o img_2160_27703088885_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
