160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños img_8462_19461974164_o img_8550_19463754733_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703083320_o 1953-Serie-completa 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742375143_o Caleta-y-Playa 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_32554447865_o main-street-0437_24765661627_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-14_40133903872_o alameda-gardens-16_25762480718_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165178154_o 2g9a0582_48919597186_o 2g9a1979_49049022991_o 2g9a8342_46581729712_o img_0190_30891440217_o img_3849_45831059501_o img_3224_40895452162_o img_0489_36082691050_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-128_24674712258_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-66_29605107235_o img_2114_36349103273_o 2g9a5899_30306647673_o_31114929795_o 2g9a6153_30306638643_o_31001137221_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-44_30874568381_o 2g9a4574_30827336691_o 2g9a7203_29207188013_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799753256_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-16_22870114623_o a-dsc_5628_18814089064_o img_2708_25159009771_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
