A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. con-motivo-del-da-nacional-de-gibraltar-10-de-septiembre-todos-los-escaparates-de-gibraltar-se-visten-de-blanco-y-rojo_22552710360_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival23_14277962138_o con-motivo-del-da-nacional-de-gibraltar-10-de-septiembre-todos-los-escaparates-de-gibraltar-se-visten-de-blanco-y-rojo_22740626595_o img_8857_20133439312_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar07_14803143458_o 2g9a0601_26247169783_o la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_24460201446_o 2g9a0627_26817561476_o proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_41541645572_o 2g9a0297_48800934813_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-31_39455299714_o strongmen-201349_10019090915_o img_0181_29910429548_o 7u3a9607_49900298183_o img_9668_21471741291_o 2g9a1971_49048524188_o american-war-memorial-7760_39633617661_o gib-view-7_25761700688_o Mezquita-22 panorama-12_39633570771_o img_4518_48714309457_o img_1223_36193449813_o img_9564_44160791174_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-44_31992468222_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_41488504724_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959235825_o img_3705_37163105915_o img_5146_28857388173_o img_3866_37163016705_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799751556_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417187335_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-9 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26613118981_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
