A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-661_22122338933_o colas-coches-gibraltar-febrero-2014-8_12614283185_o inmaculada-fotos-23112014-12_15473742493_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-09_19901590188_o img_0424_46063491302_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival27_14981855497_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-25_9222672703_o img_4260_21081434986_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-2_28816113164_o 2g9a1105_48951599463_o 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-21_23770224444_o 7u3a5136_49336690296_o bayside-panorama5_48800933633_o 659-boab-wa_48826285888_o img_9551_24765469747_o Alameda-2 shipping-3_38736511525_o img_4547_48713813908_o 2g9a8302_46581738862_o img_1727_36605156140_o img_2989_44603357891_o img_1694_43916343214_o img_3131_40937788681_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-75_26771239499_o 2g9a6034_30306765703_o_31078855446_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-93_25326900619_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-15_30880620346_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-7_30879411105_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_26808901774_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
