A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23005940544_o img_3997_15639348704_o Gibraltar - Drivers wait for hours to cross border img_3432_34243088545_o img_8838_19953416178_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-en-chordais-03_9222655849_o 2013-Christmas 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-24_28818270023_o 2018-Christmas MM180007 img_4747_46113677051_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201429_15437604888_o main-street-10_25762497288_o main-street-0433_24765675827_o shipping-6_38736467335_o img_1695_36861635421_o img_1474_43725801135_o img_9605_44160781214_o img_1546_43916084194_o img_2393_29697126987_o img_4564_23521821928_o img_2044_36880382791_o img_7253_34777016445_o 08-may-2017-7visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34737775245_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-7_32022618811_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354055043_o img_9888_36433409386_o 2g9a5888_31113492075_o_31114930215_o 2g9a5918_30306883013_o_31114929495_o 2g9a4548_30879149156_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-25_30763272102_o 2g9a7462_29750673341_o 2g9a7492_29750656781_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27732838952_o 5-enero-2014-cabalgata-de-reyes-gibraltar-05_16221038202_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
