A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. alameda-gardens-5_39603360592_o img_0456_46063481472_o img_5391_48919811572_o img_0481_44297158170_o 2g9a8457_46581729092_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-la-oreja-de-van-gogh_9703160194_o img_4120_45831072671_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-20_28818275433_o dscf7900_43693500535_o 7u3a9447_49597080888_o img_2363_43726185795_o img_2700_44839794484_o img_8970_37649905174_o_38310546886_o 2g9a0346_48801281511_o img_4587_23521820738_o Las-verjas-originales-espanolas-expuestas-en-John-Mackintosh-Hall-con-motivo-de-‘Closure. img_9943_36342185981_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165024434_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-19_34309882132_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354078283_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-117_29494983642_o 2g9a6153_30306638643_o_31001137221_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-98_25326897279_o 2g9a7203_29207188013_o 2g9a7435_29797984576_o 2g9a9331_29482370475_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28941950713_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27221948314_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834019805_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-12 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26652325586_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
