Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9905_48907309413_o img_8538_20084701645_o el-de-cruceros-es-un-sector-turstico-en-alza-en-gibraltar_22118173633_o la-nube-de-levante-es-acompaante-habitual-de-la-parte-alta-del-pen-de-gibraltar_22725718382_o colas-frontera-2-abril-2014-infogibraltar-fotgrafo-marcos-moreno_13598473973_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699837491_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii47_20593779324_o img_0555_22729138690_o 2017-Queen-Elizabeth-II-70th-Wedding-Anniversary-set 2g9a0276_48801427182_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-16_19570562035_o 7u3a5102_49336690866_o 7u3a5190_49336911937_o P1080725 shipping-1_27855091649_o img_2774_38737246865_o 2g9a4217_48230646586_o img_0243_30891443107_o dscf7912_44550422882_o img_3008_43693496915_o img_2401-2_44585525912_o img_8018_42792486900_o img_5314_40516047320_o img_9487_42792483980_o img_9903_42144422432_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-151_37830944584_o 2g9a5105_22782608248_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-88_30661163850_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-18_30874581751_o gorhams-panorama1_29720266692_o 110183_29207859940_o img_5275_29399288021_o 2g9a9271_28857828454_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25125250099_o img_7896_23838993019_o flashmob-sunborn-gibraltar-1411201410_15789736766_o img_2562_24475733154_o 2g9a0163_26951098325_o gobernador-de-gibraltar-edward-davis_24414609451_o img_8125_20675680014_o Gibraltar -28th September 2015 - The Governor of Gibraltar today departed From office bidding Farewell to politicians and the armed Forces in what ended up to be a low Key ceremony.
