A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-12_15696733287_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-08_19468695443_o img_9414_42112023280_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival16_15168468635_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-en-chordais-06_9222653429_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25492904535_o img_8739_19520826473_o 2019-Leonardo-da-Vinci default img_0630_21570719666_o 2g9a0955_48806239942_o 11-expo_frontera 2g9a1971_49048524188_o 7u3a5282_49336914572_o devils-tongue-6_24765135717_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-22 img_8536_24765530367_o st-michaels-cave-4_27855708499_o 2g9a4553_48714308492_o 2g9a8407_46581735742_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-103_38515438732_o img_8689_28129712759_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall img_0729_35671155493_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354092353_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28941950713_o img_2190_36326576034_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26405503920_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876085361_o a-dsc_5759_19440777611_o 4-abr-2016-inauguracin-nueva-sede-banco-internacional-de-gibraltar-15_25631990713_o 2g9a9757_27798184671_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
