A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 20150911_132759391_ios_22729584052_o img_8538_20084701645_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-213_22557449590_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-661_22122338933_o img_3331_34112853121_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar01_14800920339_o img_3752_34086393212_o img_4821_41863367941_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-02_17364510895_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25851354856_o img_6686_35154398350_o img_0631_21409063798_o img_0739_21605837741_o img_0831_21606046331_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-8_18948030824_o p1010490_48826817942_o gorhams-cave-3_39633657121_o 2g9a6724_48204067811_o img_9538_43969745235_o img_3148_40043122955_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-71_38490770676_o img_2317_29697091487_o img_2320_44635535101_o cm-la-linea-panorama2_41421464965_o img_4217_36329340774_o img_3570_34196601246_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-28_32090610726_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32217921762_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32247951551_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-32_25327025989_o 2g9a7342_29750649021_o 125547_28874487513_o 4-abr-2016-inauguracin-nueva-sede-banco-internacional-de-gibraltar-18_26234660725_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-56bn_20616247324_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
