A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9487_48907572103_o colas-coches-gibraltar-febrero-2014-7_12614288325_o gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_31336303638_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar03_14800922989_o 4-oct-2017-cm-y-representantes-de-gibraltar-en-cuarta-comisin-de-naciones-unidas-5_37398298730_o inmaculada-fotos-23112014-04_15471105524_o img_4879_41146197544_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0261_15438762735_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_41086200300_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976547425_o 2g9a0919_48806101261_o 2012-Definitive-2012-Birds-of-the-Rock-Addition university-6_38925373124_o 2012-Europa-2012 7u3a5713_49425346828_o P1080604 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-30 img_4064_45831068281_o 7U3A2471 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-30_31299668154_o 2g9a5057_22782516378_o img_2354_36349032493_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-20_30846307522_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-55_29605119295_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-6_30927380786_o 2g9a9590_29192652010_o 2g9a9705_28859236753_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29531205206_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26405552410_o 4-abr-2016-inauguracin-nueva-sede-banco-internacional-de-gibraltar-16_26208744916_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-10_23471137436_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25549746124_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-86_20564662274_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
