A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_3403_33432756613_o img_9923_43872623862_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699853385_o EL-MIN3 2g9a0625_26578779740_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-29_19384065329_o 2g9a0406_48800936943_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente12_12249071185_o strongmen-201368_10019056373_o 2g9a9555_50032626906_o 7u3a5220_49336913867_o img_2327_38924264324_o Alameda-8 Alameda-19 shipping-1_27855091649_o university-1_39633684111_o 2g9a1884_48699830332_o sdr img_5244_48919072073_o 2g9a8460_46634159261_o img_4010_45831062771_o img_4136_45831071841_o img_9777_43969684835_o img_2368_43726180615_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-57_29605117765_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354044403_o 2g9a5873_31113484035_o_31001126961_o 2g9a4600_30827333101_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29665527960_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959236515_o 95404_29416773681_o 2g9a9268_28857834794_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834011755_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-46_21177059312_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
