Vistas de Gibraltar Primer vuelo Gibraltar-Marrakech Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9404_48908089726_o paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-24_9222391229_o img_4003_15641881983_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-02_19468708393_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25851358156_o img_2607_45564828981_o 7u3a6462_49454013618_o 2020-Post-Go-Year-of-the-Rat portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-33_40133910282_o strongmen-201382_10018854655_o img_0082_43733183022_o img_9509_41222418705_o img_4217_21081471986_o 2g9a2051_49049238407_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-24 Mezquita-12 P1080699 img_2792_38737263605_o gib-calling-panorama-5_48699831377_o img_5376_48919812207_o img_4005_45831063421_o r3wire-varski-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-113_43072431440_o 7U3A2446 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-139_38547035801_o img_4233_36329335094_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-142_37830963114_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-69_32102431956_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-33_31562034291_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354077703_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-65_29314652230_o 2g9a7403_29833252185_o gorhams-panorama1_29720266692_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565259105_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-24 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25466666166_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-13_23388770222_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-42bn_21050836670_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-05_21195175791_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
