restauracin-cementerio-witham-29_25477575695_o restauracin-cementerio-witham-31_25477577925_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Commissioner of police at Town Range Polling Station as he oversees security) Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 20150911_141347320_ios_22717478046_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-this-side-up_9703030360_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25851362566_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-39_28818233863_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742374263_o img_0115_42877250235_o 2g9a0338_48800935623_o img_4198_20485083844_o 2g9a0409_48801429222_o 2g9a1974_49048523953_o Juan-Franco-izquierda-y-Fabian-Picardo-derecha-momentos-antes-del-cierre-de-las-actividades-de-recuerdo-del-cierre-en-La-Linea 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-7_15832492483_o gorhams-cave-2_39633650021_o visita-del-alcalde-de-la-lnea-al-ministro-principal-de-gibraltar_48954792997_o img_9638_38737417245_o Alameda-21 evacuation-monument-0484_24765697027_o panorama_1-3_39603951672_o img_2792_38737263605_o sdr 2g9a6717_48204067881_o cof img_3224_40895452162_o img_9179_38309600126_o_24494936778_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-182_26771240689_o img_4050_36994296432_o img_0136_42144367792_o 7-feb-2017-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-y-el-alcalde-de-la-lnea-juan-franco_31949827953_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354077163_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-30_30661185960_o 104145_29388299792_o img_5205_29399314991_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-33_24310522334_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-26_20566260613_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. 85-aniversario-museo-gibraltar-23072015-27_19775609750_o desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-gibraltar14_9858829233_o flashmob-sunborn-gibraltar-1411201419_15627606509_o gobernador-de-gibraltar-edward-davis_23870187003_o 10-may-2014-relevo-del-bastn-de-la-reina-de-los-juegos-de-la-commonwealth20_13981110758_o gobernador-de-gibraltar-edward-davis_24201464770_o Gibraltar -28th September 2015 - The Governor of Gibraltar today departed From office bidding Farewell to politicians and the armed Forces in what ended up to be a low Key ceremony.
