181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto memorial-en-honor-a-los-cados-estadounidenses-en-gibraltar-durante-la-i-guerra-mundial_22714086786_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - Fabian Picardo led his GSLP/LiberalAlliance Ministers to the Convent earlier this morning where there were sworn into Government by Acting Governor Alison Macmilan. He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-01_19467065984_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703088580_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival04_14463166122_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival36_15168396625_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-12_29360169351_o 2013-Christmas proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_41541645572_o img_0664_21409893809_o img_2705_45564866351_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-26_32175359530_o Gibraltar - HMS Bulwark arrives for Amphibious Landing Exercise celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-12_9222043153_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39843299322_o img_4272_20919524120_o 2g9a2612_49086662407_o 2g9a2617_49085934638_o Monos-5 st-michaels-cave-1_27855706329_o 2g9a8465_46634158961_o Aerial view of the urban town centre population of Gibraltar.Photo by Cpl Scott Robertson RAFCommand Photographer British Forces Gibraltar img_1758_43726055525_o img_1155_36166366944_o img_9490_35393043563_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-188_37830944154_o 2g9a7225_29797865636_o img_2057_36623942100_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28941936233_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-65bn_21246905561_o desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-gibraltar09_9858836553_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
