restauracin-cementerio-witham-2_25110010969_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. policia-gibraltar-02_9225047962_o 20150911_151621749_ios_22556050620_o 20150909_091708122_ios_22756772391_o 7u3a9809_50033001857_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-368_22122319024_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23217105392_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23242743581_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-olly-murs-marcos-moreno10_9699864829_o img_0313_45389525994_o img_9032_20134641472_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-2_25088691765_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-77_29331737072_o img_6688_35541520415_o img_0734_21605847071_o img_4740_45202431925_o 2g9a2980_49094629367_o Royal-Engagement strongmen-201314_10019318856_o 2g9a2009_49048515383_o Mezquita-7 Punta-Europa-25 img_5075_48919600196_o img_9421_29944502797_o 20171214_155330_38346301194_o img_2309_43916529934_o img_4555_23521822818_o img_4788_36982594703_o img_9949_36342185631_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354052533_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-34bn_21050814340_o img_2343_37163010205_o simulacro-accidente-aereo-en-gibraltar-03122014-04_15757900269_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
