Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. monumento-situado-en-la-plaza-de-casemates-en-gibraltar-en-honor-a-los-gibraltareos-que-participaron-como-voluntarios-en-la-ii-guerra-mundial_22751645041_o img_3737_34086396972_o gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_43397117710_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii30_20593813854_o img_0426_45389519934_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-99_29151376010_o img_0531_44297152210_o img_7570_34925361313_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-38_9225468550_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16384943991_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-05_9222698255_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-02_9224810194_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_42178240204_o strongmen-201363_10019008905_o 2g9a0955_48806239942_o Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-11 gib-view-3_27855876129_o dav img_3987_48699831597_o img_3215_26064419757_o img_5299_42275715542_o img_9481_36197422705_o img_2319_40134084754_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318394092_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354065703_o 2g9a4468_30279133433_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-93_29570769506_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-18_30790812401_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275185400_o img_9623_26286055310_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
