181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto restauracin-cementerio-witham-29_25477575695_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-13_9222302555_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar30_10382428384_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii07_21190299516_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0097-bw_15416893166_o 2017-50th-Anniversary-of-the-1967-Referendum university-25_39603874182_o university-panorama-1_20845308694_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-06_14150913002_o 1_img_0115_42877250235_o Monos-2 img_0139_43064732994_o 2g9a8341_32759671228_o img_4727_48714140836_o img_1686_37002120895_o dscf7917_42790067220_o 7U3A2459 img_9494_42792483810_o img_9212_38309499186_o_37651609974_o img_8838_38334139542_o img_4550_23521823708_o pan-11_34776860145_o 24-04-2017-desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-de-los-royal-engineers-6_34113616971_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354076263_o 2g9a5840_32383638570_o 2g9a9165_30063591511_o 2g9a5158_30925681146_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-19_30846363672_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-32_30763269292_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959237905_o img_5130_29399681391_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27732674102_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-10_23471137436_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
