A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 15-de-abril-2016-jardines-de-la-alameda-de-gibraltar-10_26440899855_o cementerio-catolico-gibraltar-03_9222237105_o 2g9a9434_48908099111_o gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_43397117710_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-lawson_9699904439_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival31_14461041451_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201413_15621091421_o american-war-memorial-7756_27855782349_o Gibraltar - Operation Sea Snake sees tanks and Royal Marines land on Eastern Beach Gibraltar - Preparations for Operation Sea Snake start at Eastern beach with tanks Monos-31 2g9a0351_48801427392_o Punta-Europa-6 2g9a0368_48801282306_o P1080701 2g9a0369_48801428422_o commonwealth-park-16_39603949822_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-6_16265142630_o cof 08-may-2017-34visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34606276781_o img_9951_36311274582_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168279395_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-73_29314644140_o 2g9a4587_30827334381_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565263665_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27732838952_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27319190562_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26652395266_o a-dsc_5221_18814156774_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
