160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños monos-en-la-ciudad-02_9225088132_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. el-artista-durante-la-entrevista_17495650038_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_23858216994_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-26_32175359530_o superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-12_15013761994_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-17_13967065239_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976577625_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-03_9222032679_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-36_37623771872_o 2g9a8848_48826627341_o img_0210_29910454658_o img_6405jkjkh_24764474817_o img_5114_48919807702_o img_5320_48919602836_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-26_33820114238_o 2g9a8418_32759668068_o img_0122_45831060651_o 7U3A2461 img_8061_44600547541_o img_1520_43725783175_o img_8122_44603355381_o img_3059_26064770307_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-137_37830963504_o img_2044_36880382791_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-63_31331037433_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978706456_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-124_29524267331_o 2g9a5895_30999690281_o_31001126671_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-56_30880566726_o 2g9a9309_29373757842_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28939790344_o img_5053_28856432074_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26652408166_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
