turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-598_22555082280_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23029564020_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - Fabian Picardo led his GSLP/LiberalAlliance Ministers to the Convent earlier this morning where there were sworn into Government by Acting Governor Alison Macmilan. He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. img_9897_43921150091_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii77_21029570499_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25492906665_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-87_29360025661_o 7u3a9430_49597081163_o img_0715_21409022340_o 2g9a0618_26246166884_o festival-literario-gibraltar19_10497051293_o 2g9a0335_48800935673_o img_9537_42077119632_o 2g9a0868_48806238322_o 2g9a2568_49086447926_o 7u3a5282_49336914572_o P1080591 2g9a5370_48726351532_o 2g9a4513_48714140426_o sdr 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-8_32754310667_o img_0174_45781931752_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-23_33820114398_o img_0286_45831068691_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-78_38490782726_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-6_32102452856_o img_9515_35361471644_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-18_30874581751_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354090423_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-7_30661247110_o img_2279_36326618794_o 2g9a4477_30827316651_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
